This is just a reminder. By now most people know not to open unknown attachments. A lot of people are being infected with the latest virus, however-- if the amount of infected emails that I am receiving is any indication.

The virus I'm referring to is known in the media as MyDoom. It has been named Novarg by Symantec. It was just released Monday afternoon, and I've received over a dozen infected emails on the very same day. This is probably the most rapidly rampant virus that I have ever seen.

It is clear that some people do not have their virus definitions up-to-date, and they are being duped into opening the virus' attachment. I know that many people in the Kootenays do not pay a lot of attention to the media, so please consider this a heads-up.

If you do become infected, the virus will hijack your address book and send itself out to other recipients. The easiest way to avoid this is to disconnect from the internet until you are ready to combat the virus.
