MSBlast Worm

If you have any exposure to the media at all, you have certainly heard about this latest worm. I won't bother explaining the background of this nasty peice of code.

MSBlast affects Windows 2000 and XP. If you haven't been exposed yet, download the patch for your operating system. If you are infected, here are the removal instructions. Hopefully, you can read or print them before your computer reboots!

I'd like to think that Billy Gates is sitting up and paying attention to this!

UPDATE: I actually found the following virus on a client's computer last night. Very interesting: a useful virus!

"The W32.Welchia.Worm is a variant of the Blaster... sort of. If you are infected with it, it will automatically patch your windows, reboot your computer to install, and then uninstall the Blaster Worm if you have it. It will also check your system tray Calendar. If/when it reads 2004, the worm will remove itself. A useful worm to have, since it's not really harmful, even though no one likes a virus or worm of any kind on their computer. So, this second security notice might be a joke, but be on the lookout for this new worm."
