IBM gives up 180,000 Canadians In shocking news, IBM announced that they had lost a drive with data on it from Co-operators General Insurance Co., as well as other companies. That drive had 180,000 "names, addresses, beneficiaries, social insurance numbers, pension values, pre-authorized checking information and mothers' maiden names", anything else? Oh yes, their bank account details."
This is really scary in a time when everyone is worried that their identity will be stolen. The Toronto Star reports that the insurance company had to send out letters to every person to warn of identity theft. more...
