Dying Operating Systems

At midnight last Tuesday, the MS DOS operating system officially reached the end of its life cycle. Other recently deceased Microsoft products include Windows 3.xx, Windows NT 3.5x, and Windows 95. In short, there'll be no further support, no further patches, updates, or online help available for these products from Microsoft.

If I recall correctly, Windows 98 is slated to die in another 6 months. If you use this o/s, and want to continue to do so, I suggest that you do the following: create a clean install of Windows, download all of the patches and updates, and create an image of the installation using a product such as Norton Ghost or PowerQuest Drive Image. Then you can reinstall from that image for years to come.
